The Mission

● Est. 2021

The Field is an organization dedicated to harnessing the power of the arts as a catalyst for social and political consciousness, healing, and community building. This mission is achieved through community investment, free arts-centered programming, and workshops led by artists whose practices foster operative consciousness, mental health, and creative expression.

● Our Values

The Field Values

To Love

Here, love is informed by an abolitionist framework. Accountability, safety, healing, and humanization are prioritized in an effort to model a world we believe is possible.

To Invest in Community

We seek to distribute resources to community members as a way to address both the historical and contemporary impacts of the cycle of poverty and America’s carceral apparatus.

Create To heal

We believe that at the core of our healing journey lies a deep clarity and understanding of our individual traumas. Here, we leverage creative expression as a tool not only for discovery but also to fortify our autonomy, allowing us to progress forward on our journey with or without traditional mental health practices.

Create to engage in social commentary

Here, our curriculum guides participants toward creating works of social commentary that focus primarily on the material conditions of Black and Brown people.
